One of the most powerful mental powers we all have is focus. This power of mental focus can impact everything we do both in our mind and in our daily activities.
From a very young age parents and teachers try to get little kids to focus on one task for just a few minutes. We all know how hard it is to keep a toddlers attention for more than a few seconds before they lose focus and move on to the next distraction.

Developing Mental Focus

As we grow older we are encourages to develop our mental focus with study, exams and even sports where we have to focus on repetitive tasks in order to acquire skills and habits.
When we truly grasp how mental focus is the key to controlling other mental and physical activities the importance of improving our mental focus becomes clear.

For example if you have a list of chores you need to get done around the house or a project at work that you’ve been avoiding. Once the decision is made to get the job done and time is set aside our mental focus kicks in and helps us continue to work and avoid the tempting distraction that go on in everyday life. When we don’t set aside a specific time to do a task then our mental focus isn’t put into action and it’s often very hard to maintain focus.

Mental Triggers

By understanding how to trigger subconscious mental focus we can take on tasks that we cannot take on using will power alone.

One such example for me are my taxes, I put them off all year long but when the pay and file reminder comes in the door I set aside a day to complete my tax returns. Once this day comes I have a new energy to get the task completed. That’s the super power of mental focus in action.

Mental Focus is a skill that can be learned and when it is learned it will make a massive positive impact on your productivity.

At first it takes conscious effort but with persistence and setting good goals and deadlines mental focus will itself become a habit and in turn continue to get stronger.
